Typed Letter Signed: "Ike", 1p, 7x10½. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 1967 October 18. To Bobby Cutler, Boston, Massachusetts. In full: "I received the book about the quail and read it through without stopping. It was indeed a touching story. Of course I am glad you are enjoying your visit to the University of Kansas and have had an opportunity to see some of the beauty of my homestate. At the moment, the doctors have me in their clutches but if all goes well Mamie and I shall go to Augusta on Friday for a stay of about ten days." DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER was born in Denison, Texas on October 14, 1890, but in 1891 his family moved to Abilene, Kansas, where he grew up. BOBBY CUTLER was Brigadier General Robert Cutler, Eisenhower's WWII aide and his Special Assistant for National Security in the White House. Horizontal fold underlines signature. Slightly creased.
