Typed Letter Signed: "Dwight D. Eisenhower" as 34th U.S. President, 1p, 7x9. On pale green White House stationery but written from his farm in Gettysburg, 1957 December 28. To Dr. Daniel Poling, Editor, Christian Herald Magazine, New York. In full: "Thank you very much indeed for your kind comments concerning the television report that the Secretary of State and I made after our participation in the NATO Heads of Government meeting. I am most grateful for your message. With best wishes for a fine 1958, and warm regard." On November 25, 1957, President Eisenhower suffered a mild stroke but recovered rapidly. A NATO summit meeting attended by President DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles was held in Paris December 17-20, 1957. DANIEL POLING'S son, Clark V. Poling, was a Protestant minister and was one of four chaplains who died aboard the troop transport Dorchester when it was torpedoed in the North Atlantic in 1943 during WWII. Light paper clip impression at upper margin. Slightly creased. Overall, fine condition.
