Partly Printed Document Signed: "The President", 1p, 5½x3¼. The White House, Washington, (1934 December 10). "Order Form" post card with printed address on verso: "John E. Scopes & Co./Rare Books, Prints, Autographs/23 Steuben Street/Albany, N.Y." FDR has filled in the printed form: "Gentlemen:/Please send me the following items from your/Catalogue No. '278'. Yours truly,/Name 'The President'/Address 'The White House/Washington'" President Roosevelt has ordered numbers "2 Hudson River 2.00/43 N.Y. City 4.50/74 Hudson River 1.50" Penciled check marks next to the first two numbers with "sold" penciled below the third number indicating he successfully purchased the first two books. FDR has filled in the catalogue number, his name and address ("The President/Washington"), and the numbers, titles and cost of the three books. With accompanying White House envelope, 3-cent Washington stamp postmarked Washington, D.C., December 10 1934. FDR was a collector of autographs, naval-related items and books relating to New York. Letters relating to his collecting interests are scarce and desirable. Lightly creased and soiled. Rust paper clip stains at upper left. Pencil notes, unknown hand.
