Franklin D. Roosevelt sends a thank you letter for the birthday
greetings.
Typed Letter Signed: "FDR" as President, 1p, 7x8¾.
The White House, Washington, 1942 February 5. To Ferdinand Pecora,
Supreme Court of State of New York, County Court House, New York. Begins:
"Dear Ferd". In full: "Your grand birthday message brought me a
full measure of happiness and it gives me much pleasure to exchange birthday
greetings with you. I do wish you every possible good in the days which lie
ahead." JUDGE FERDINAND PECORA led the federal investigations into
Wall Street that led to the creation of the Securities and Exchange Commission
in 1934. He served as Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, 1st District,
from 1936-1950. President Roosevelt had just celebrated his 60th birthday on
January 30th. Judge Pecora was celebrating his 56th birthday. Lightly
creased. Erased pencil notes (unknown hand) lower right blank area. Fine
condition.
