In full: "It was good of you to send me that handsomely bound copy of Volume One of the United States Code which you so nicely inscribed. Thanks ever so much for your thought of me. I shall indeed find it useful." Democrat EUGENE J. KEOGH (1907-1989) represented New York in the House of Representatives from 1937-1967. He was Chairman of the House Committee on Revision of the Laws from 1939-1967. The United States Code is the codification by subject matter of the general and permanent laws of the United States. It is divided by broad subjects into 50 titles and is published by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives. It was in his capacity as Committee Chairman that Congressman Keogh sent President Roosevelt Volume One. As member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Keogh also sponsored the legislation which bears his name: pension programs for the self-employed ("Keogh Plans"). Lightly soiled. Vertical fold crosses "a" of "Franklin". Otherwise, fine condition.
