Autograph Letter Signed: "George", 1p, 6½x4¼ card. Walker's Point (Maine), 1999 September 28. To Cy. In full: "The cards arrived. Thanks so much for signing these stars up for W. Warm regards." Fine condition. Pictorial letterhead of the Bush homestead. Accompanied by postmarked envelope written in Bush's hand. Slightly soiled. Fine condition. Herbert Walker, whom he was named for, was his maternal grandfather. Walker's Point was his mother's family home. CY LAUGHTER was a Dayton, Ohio industrialist and philanthropist who had organized the Bogie Busters Golf Tournament in 1967. The annual tournament brought top entertainment, sports and political stars into Dayton; that's how he first met GEORGE BUSH. Three months earlier, in June, Texas Governor George Walker Bush had officially announced he was seeking the 2000 Republican presidential nomination. Cy Laughter arranged for stars he knew to appear at fundraisers for George W. Bush, affectionately referred to by his father as "W". Two items.
