GEORGE H. W. BUSH
George H.W. Bush signed a cordial autographed letter to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
Autograph Letter signed: "George", 1 page, 6¼x4¼ card. On personal letterhead. Houston, Texas, January 22 (no year). To "Dear Pat" [Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan]. In full: "Did you see this? I'm traveling a lot but Ginseng doesn't help. Come to Houston. Best." George Bush had, perhaps, the most impressive resumé of anyone entering the White House: awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three air medals in WWII, Congressman (1967-1971), U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1971-1972), Chairman of the Republican National Committee (1973-1974), first Chief of the U.S. Liaison Office in Beijing, China (1974-1975), Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (1976-1977) and Vice President (1981-1989). In his private life, he co-founded Zapata Petroleum and founded Zapata Off-Shore Co., serving as Chairman of the Board and CEO. DIRECTLY FROM THE SALE OF THE ESTATE OF DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN. Moynihan (1927-2003) represented New York in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat for four terms (1977-2001). A prolific author, he served in the administrations of four Presidents: Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford". Staple holes at letterhead in upper left. Estate inventory numbers in ink (top) and stamp (left margin). Pencil note (unknown hand) in lower left. Otherwise, fine condition.
