PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 10/30/1989 - HFSID 178491
Price: $600.00
GEORGE BUSH
George Bush sends a typed letter of encouragement for losing
weight.
Typed Letter Signed: "George" as President, 1p, 6¼x4¼.
No place, 1989 October 30. On his embossed President card to Cy
(Laughter). In full: "I just saw your September 28 letter. By now
you probably have lost 30+ pounds. Congratulations! Barbara and I look forward
to seeing the 'new you.' Thanks for sending along the Dale Huffman piece.
Barbara sends warmest wishes, too. In haste," Republican CY LAUGHTER, a
Dayton, Ohio businessman, started the "Bogie Busters" golf tournament in
Dayton in 1967 as a way to promote the city but it also has raised money for
charity. Bush frequently attended the annual Bogie Busters. GEORGE BUSH,
born in 1924, was Ronald Reagan's Vice President (1981-1989) before
serving as 41st U.S. President (1989-1993), the first incumbent Vice
President to be elected President since 1836. He oversaw a largely successful
foreign policy, including the first Gulf War against Iraq, Operation Desert
Storm, and the 1989 invasion of Panama to depose General Manuel Noriega. But
he wasn't re-elected largely due to shortcomings in his domestic policy,
including a tax raise in 1990 after a campaign promise - the famous "Read my
lips: No - new - taxes" speech - not to raise them. His son, George W.
Bush, became 43rd president in 2001 and served two terms. Fine
condition.
