GEORGE BUSH
George Bush signs a 1984 Vice-Presidential Christmas card.
Vice Presidential Christmas Card signed: "George Bush" inside, beneath photograph, 5¼x7¾
when closed. Color photograph, 4¾x6¼, on inside captioned: "George and Barbara Bush".
Message on front cover: "Merry Christmas and a Peaceful 1984!" Pictured is the Vice President's
Room, located just off the Senate Floor in the United States Capitol. George Bush
(1924-2018), was Ronald Reagan's Vice President (1981-1989) before serving as 41st U.S.
President (1989-1993), the first incumbent Vice President to be elected President since 1836.
He oversaw a largely successful foreign policy, including the first Gulf War against Iraq,
Operation Desert Storm, and the 1989 invasion of Panama to depose General Manuel
Noriega. But he wasn't re-elected largely due to shortcomings in his domestic policy,
including a tax raise in 1990 after a campaign promise - the famous "Read my lips: No - new
- taxes" speech - not to raise them. His son, George W. Bush, became 43rd president in
2001 and served two terms. Minor, pinhead-size stains on cover. Fine condition.
