Campaign material discussing Social Security signed by the candidate for the Oval Office
Campaign Brochure signed:"George W. Bush", 16½x10½ folded in thirds to 5½x10½.Early brochure from the 2000 presidential campaign urging the voters of the state of Washington to vote for Bush in both the February 29th primary and again at the local precinct caucus on March 7th. Bush campaign quotes in this brochure include: "To strengthen Social Security, we must protect the Social Security surplus", "I'm a uniter not a divider. I can't stand the kind of politics that puts one group of people against another. I believe in working for what's best for America and don't care who gets the credit" and "Every child must have a first rate education, because there are no second rate children and no second rate dreams".A 4¼x2¼ "George W./Bush/For President" sticker is affixed at the bottom of the back panel of the brochure. George W. Bush, born in 1946, worked on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign before assembling the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989.He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Bush, who became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected in 1998, resigned on December 21, 2000, having been elected 43rd President of the U.S. Reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush is the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. Most recently, he paired up with fellow former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton to conduct an in-depth interview with Time magazine regarding their plans for the coming year and their take on the 2016 election. Since the June 21, 1999 edition of Time, Bush has been on 30 covers of the magazine. Lightly creased. Stray ink mark on panel boldly signed by Bush. Otherwise, fine condition.
