PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH and VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY
Photograph of the President and Vice President shown in front of the White House, walking between the U.S. Military Honor Guard
Photograph signed: "George W. Bush", "Dick Cheney", Color, 10x8. GEORGE W. BUSH (b. 1946), worked on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign, before assembling the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Bush, who became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected in 1998, resigned on December 21, 2000, having been elected 43rd President of the U.S. Reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush is the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. RICHARD "DICK" CHENEY (b. 1941) was White House Chief of Staff under President Ford (1974-1977), a member of Congress from Wyoming (1979-1989, rising to the position of Minority Whip), Secretary of Defense under President George Bush (1989-1993). He was CEO of the Halliburton Corporation (1995-2000) before being elected and re-elected Vice President as the running mate of President George W. Bush (2001-2009). Cheney played a key role in the first Bush administration's planning to liberate Kuwait in Operation Desert Storm, and a key role again in President George W. Bush's "Operation Iraqi Freedom."
