GEORGE W. BUSH The candidate for the Oval Office signs a laminated book mark in black ink Ephemera signed: "George W Bush", 2x8¾. Laminated book mark with printed photo of Bush (color, 1¼x1¼) at top. Printed text reads: "I enjoyed visiting your school today.' Gov. George W. Bush, Bethany Elementary School, Beaverton, Oregon, September 25, 2000." School logo of Bethany Bobcats at bottom. Governor Bush accepted the Republican Presidential nomination on August 3, 2000, and visited this school during a campaign swing through the closely contested state of Oregon. George W. Bush, born in 1946, worked on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign before assembling the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Bush, who became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected in 1998, resigned on December 21, 2000, having been elected 43rd President of the U.S. Reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush is the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. Most recently, he paired up with fellow former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton to conduct an in-depth interview with Time magazine and regarding their plans for the coming year and their take on the 2016 election. This issue of Time with Clinton and himself on the cover will be the 31st cover he has been on since June 21, 1999. Light horizontal crease crosses "W" of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
