GEORGE W. BUSH Color 22x14 2000 presidential campaign sign signed in black ink Ephemera Signed: Original 2000 "George W./Bush/for President" campaign sign signed: "George W. Bush". Color, 22x14. Election Day was November 7, 2000, but it wasn't until December 13th, when Al Gore conceded the election to Bush, that the winner of the election was known. On December 12th, the U.S. Supreme Court had voted 7-2 to reverse a Florida Supreme Court ruling ordering recounts of ballots in the state which had shown Bush with a slim lead over Gore. Florida's 25 electoral votes put Bush's total to 271, one more than he needed to be President. George W. Bush, born in 1946, worked on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign before assembling the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Bush, who became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected in 1998, resigned on December 21, 2000, having been elected 43rd President of the U.S. Reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush is the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. Most recently, he paired up with fellow former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton to conduct an in-depth interview with Time magazine and regarding their plans for the coming year and their take on the 2016 election. This issue of Time with Clinton and himself on the cover will be the 31st cover he has been on since June 21, 1999. Slightly worn at edges and corners. Fine condition.
