GEORGE W. BUSH Green hat embroidered in gold: "BUSH/FARM TEAM" with entwined green rope. Tag inside: "One Size Fits All" and "Made in Bangladesh" on verso. This hat had been signed: "George W. Bush" on the visor but soiling has obliterated the signature. Soiled and creased. Accompanied by Autograph Letter Signed: "Brian Litzel", 1p, 8½x11. Litzel was the original owner. In full: "George W. Bush signed this hat for me, the hat that I was wearing, when he was in Iowa campaigning for the 2000 Presidential Election. This was pre-IA Caucus. These hats, to the very best of my knowledge, were only handed out during his Farm visits that week. Maybe even only this particular event." On January 25, 2000, Texas Governor George W. Bush (b. 1946) won the Iowa Republican Party caucus. This was the first step in Bush's successful march to the Republican presidential nomination and the presidency. Previously, he worked on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign before assembling the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Bush, who became the first Governor in Texas history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms when he was re-elected in 1998, resigned on December 21, 2000, having been elected 43rd President of the U.S. Reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush is the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. Most recently, he paired up with fellow former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton to conduct an in-depth interview with Time magazine and regarding their plans for the coming year and their take on the 2016 election. This upcoming issue of Time with Clinton and himself on the cover will be the 31st cover he has been on since June 21, 1999. Major league baseball teams get almost all of their players from the minor leagues. The minor league team is referred to as the "farm team" because that's where major leaguers grow in talent so the "Bush Farm Team" on this hat has a dual meaning. Grease stains touch signature and several words of text. Creased. Two items.
