GEORGE W. BUSH
George W. Bush signs a red, white and blue identification badge for "External Site Operations Staff", Republican National Convention, August 1, 2000, Philadelphia, bearing American flag and Republican elephant.
Convention Badge signed: "George W. Bush", 3½x6½. Red, white and blue identification badge for "External Site Operations Staff", Republican National Convention, August 1, 2000, Philadelphia, bearing American flag and Republican elephant. Bears huge "3" which may indicate Day 3 of the convention. On August 3, 2000, Texas Governor George W. Bush (b. 1946) accepted the Republican nomination for President. After a post-election delay of a month while votes were recounted in Florida and lawsuits were filed on both sides, Vice President Al Gore conceded the election to Bush on December 13, 2000. With over 105,000,000 votes cast, Gore had over 500,000 more popular votes than Bush but, with Florida's 25 electoral votes, Bush led in the Electoral College 271 to 266 and was elected President. After he was reelected on November 2, 2004, Bush became the only U.S. President to be reelected after succeeding a two-term President of the opposing political party. Most recently, he paired up with fellow former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton to conduct an in-depth interview with Time magazine regarding their take on their plans for the coming year and the 2016 election. This issue of Time with Clinton and himself on the cover is the 31st cover he has been on since June 21, 1999. Fine condition.
