Printed Speech signed in ink: "Gerald R. Ford", 18p, 6½x9½. Bound, printed text of an Address by Gerald R. Ford at the English-Speaking Union, London, England, November 30, 1983. Numbered copy 115 of 250, published in hardcover by Lord John Press, Northridge, California, 1984. The speech commemorated the 109th birthday of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Signed opposite facts of publication on a pages titled, "An Address by Gerald R. Ford." A former All-American football player at the University of Michigan and a Navy veteran of World War II, Gerald R. Ford (1913-2006) represented Michigan in the U.S. Congress (1949-1973), serving as Minority Leader (1965-1973). Following the resignation of Vice President Spiro T. Agnew in 1973, Ford became the first person nominated by the President and confirmed by vote of both Houses of Congress as Vice President under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Following President Nixon's resignation on August 9, 1974, Vice President Ford became 38th President of the United States. Nominated by the Republican Party for a full term in 1976, Ford was narrowly defeated by Democrat Jimmy Carter. Ford lived longer than any other former President. Fine condition.
