In full: "I have your letter of May 20 and want to be just as helpful as I possible (sic) can. I want to especially commend you for desiring a position with a police department. I am pleased to know that you have submitted your application to more than one of the local departments. Because of the nature of your interest I think the best way in which I can be of assistance to you is to forward your letter to my special assistant in Grand Rapids, Mr. Gordon Vander Till, with the request that he get in touch with you and the various departments to see what can be done. I am, therefore, forwarding your letter to Mr. Vander Till of my Grand Rapids office at 425 Cherry Street, S.E., where the telephone number is [number indicataed].
