Truman has underlined 16 words as his reply to the question. Harry S Truman (1884-1972) served as 33rd U.S. President from 1945-1953. The former U.S. Senator from Missouri (1935-1945), who had been elected FDR's Vice President in 1944, assumed the presidency upon FDR's death on April 12, 1945. After leaving the presidency, Truman returned to Independence, Missouri, where he wrote his memoirs and was actively involved in the creation of the Truman Library. Upper left blank corner torn away.
