HERBERT HOOVER
President Hoover signs a card in black ink.
Signature: "Herbert Hoover", 3x1½ card. Herbert Hoover attended Stanford University from 1891-1895 graduating with a degree in geology. At Stanford he met fellow geology student Lou Henry. She attended Stanford from 1894-1898 and received a B.A. degree. Herbert Hoover and Lou Henry were married in 1899. Hoover became a member of Stanford's Board of Trustees and continued his association with Stanford until 1941. Mrs. Hoover designed their home in Palo Alto, California, adjacent to Stanford University. It was here that Hoover awaited the presidential election returns in 1928 when he defeated Alfred E. Smith, and 1932, when he lost to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. After leaving the White House in 1933, the Hoovers moved to Palo Alto while maintaining an apartment in New York City. After his wife's death in 1944, the former President deeded the house to Stanford University and moved to the Towers at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. Fine condition.
