Originally published a year after Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected President, this book by Herbert Hoover (1874-1964), 31st U.S. President (1929-1933) and FDR's predecessor, surveys issues of economic and political liberty, including FDR's New Deal policies and the dangers associated with government's entry into competitive markets. In 1936, the year after the publication of this edition of this book, Hoover gave a speech on these issues in Denver, Colorado. No dust jacket. Cover and spine are slightly worn, creased at upper right corner of front. Signature page is lightly shaded. Book is internally sound.
