(2) LOU HENRY HOOVER. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Miss Mildred Dilling/remembering a charming hour/she gave us at the White House/Lou Henry Hoover". B/w, 7¼½. Photo by Bachrach (imprint at lower right corner. Slightly soiled at blank margins. Fine condition. HERBERT HOOVER (1874-1964) and LOU HENRY (1874-1944) met while they were students at Stanford University. They were married in 1899 and had two sons: Herbert Clark Hoover, Jr. (1903-1969) and Allan Henry Hoover (1907-1993). After Hoover's one term as 31st U.S. President (1929-1933), the couple returned to California, where they built a home overlooking the Stanford University campus. They also made the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City their home. Two items. Framed to an overall size of 25¼x27.
