He signs a typed letter to a business executive who has accepted membership on a committee of the Hoover Commission (1954).
Typed Letter signed: "Herbert Hoover", 1p, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1954 January 6. On stationery of the Commission on the Organization of the Executive Branch of Government to Reuben B. Robertson, Jr., Champion Paper and Fibre Co., Hamilton, Ohio. This was the second of two bipartisan Commissions on governmental reorganization chaired by Herbert Hoover, and commonly known as Hoover Commissions. The first (1945-1947) was appointed by President Truman, following Congressional legislation pushed by Republicans, the second (1953-1955) by President Eisenhower. Despite the inevitable partisan wrangling on two bodies composed of equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans, both commissions, aimed at streamlining government and reducing wastes, had many of their recommendations were adopted. Light mailing folds. Lightly soiled at upper left corner. Ink stamp on verso shows through faintly at lower left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
