Typed Letter Signed: "Herbert Hoover" as President, 1 page, 7x8¾. The White House, Washington, 1931 July 9. To Mrs. Charles Sumner Bird, East Walpole, Mass. In full: "I want to express my deep appreciation of the greeting contained in your letter of June 27th. Such expressions are most heartening. Mr. Joslin has talked at some length with Captain Creed." Anna Child (Mrs. Charles Sumner Bird) was a delegate to the 1924 Republican National Convention and served on the Republican National Committee. Theodore C. Joslin was President Hoover's Press Secretary. Lightly creased. Pencil erasures at upper edge.
