attend a writers' dinner in honor of former British Prime Minister David Lloyd
George.
Typed Letter Signed: "Herbert Hoover" as Coolidge's Secretary of
Commerce, 1 page, 8x7½. Washington, 1923 October 18. To Mark
Sullivan accepting his invitation "to attend the dinner given by the
Overseas Writers to the Honorable David Lloyd George on Saturday evening,
October 27th." DAVID LLOYD GEORGE had served as British Prime Minister
from 1916-1922. Lloyd George, Britain's last Liberal Party Prime Minister, was
the cover story of the Volume II Number 1, September 3, 1923 issue of "Time"
magazine. Journalist and commentator MARK SULLIVAN wrote the landmark history
book, Our Times, 1900-25. Herbert HOOVER served as Secretary
of Commerce under Presidents Harding and Coolidge from 1921 until 1928 when he
resigned after becoming the Republican nominee for President. Lightly
creased.
