. Comprises: (1) First Day Cover signed: "J Carter" and "M. Begin", 6¼x3½. First Day Cover honoring Peace Through International Law 1969, two 6-cent stamps affixed, postmarked United Nations, New York, 21 April 1969, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Fine condition. (2) Photograph signed: "A Sadat" (signed IN Arabic). Color, 7½x9¾ overall, image 6x8 (one surface). Captioned at lower left in Arabic and English. Fine condition. At the White House on March 26, 1979, the Camp David peace treaty was signed by Israeli Prime Minister MENACHEM BEGIN and Egyptian President ANWAR SADAT and by U.S. President JIMMY CARTER as witness. At a state dinner that evening, Begin suggested that Carter be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and Sadat agreed. Begin and Sadat had won the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts. Sadat was assassinated in 1981; Begin died in 1992. In 2002, Carter finally received his Nobel Peace Prize. Two items. Framed in Gallery of History style: 36½x24½.
