A framed collection in the Gallery of History style (34x23), featuring an inscribed photo signed by Sadat, an envelope signed by Begin and Carter, and a photo of all 3 at the signing of the peace agreement
Comprises: (1) Philatelic Cover signed: "Jimmy Carter" and "M. Begin", 6½x3½. Pictorially stamped with the scales of justice, postmarked Voice of Liberty Sta, West Haven, CT, February 4, 1979, 6½x3½. Fine condition. (2) Photograph inscribed and signed: "Mr. Steven Rubin/Best Wishes/A Sadat/4-8-78" (signed in English and Arabic). B/w, 7x9. Fine condition. At the White House on March 26, 1979, the Camp David peace treaty was signed by Israeli Prime Minister MENACHEM BEGIN and Egyptian President ANWAR SADAT and by U.S. President JIMMY CARTER as witness. At a state dinner that evening, Begin suggested that Carter be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and Sadat agreed. Begin and Sadat had won the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts. Sadat was assassinated in 1981; Begin died in 1992. In 2002, Carter finally received his Nobel Peace Prize. Two items. Framed in Gallery of History style: 34x23.
