JOHN F. KENNEDY
John F. Kennedy sends a typed letter asking for help from the Postmaster.
Typed Letter Signed: "John Kennedy" as Congressman, 1p, 8x10¼. Washington, D.C., 1952 April 24. To Joseph Finn, Acting Postmaster, Boston. In full: "I am again writing to you in behalf of Mr. Francis J. Marshall of 24 Harrison Avenue, Braintree, Massachusetts, who is now employed in the Post Office Department as a mail carrier. Mr. Marshall is most anxious to be appointed to a supervisory position with the Department, and I shall therefore deeply appreciate your looking into this particular matter for me with a view toward giving him every possible consideration when any suitable vacancy arises. His record is, I believe, available to you, and I understand that he has made application for such a promotion. Thanking you in advance for your kindness in this connection, and with best wishes, I am, Sincerely yours," Creased. Staple holes and fold at upper left corner. Horizontal fold underlines signature. Accompanied by an unsigned carbon of Finn's May 2, 1952, reply to Congressman Kennedy. In part: "I have examined Mr. Marshall's record, and it is satisfactory. I am, therefore, having a note made of the fact that he is interested in obtaining advancement to a supervisory position...." Creased, folds, staple holes at upper left corner. Two items.
