Massachusetts. In full: "I have your letter of May 5th, with further
reference to your interest in Thomas M. DiLorenzo, Jr. of 11 Antrim Street, East
Boston, Massachusetts, a resident of my congressional district, who is anxious
to secure a commission in the United States Naval Reserve. IN reply, I wish to
advise you that I am again contacting the Director of the Office of Naval
officer Procurement in Boston, and shall be happy to continue to do what I can
in Mr. DiLorenzo's behalf. I am writing direct to him today, advising him as to
the efforts I am making in his behalf; and I shall keep him informed as to the
results. My best wishes to you and the family. Sincerely," At the age
of 28, John F. Kennedy entered politics, involving most of the members of his
family in his campaign to win the Democratic nomination for Congress in
Massachusetts' Eleventh District. After beating out nine other candidates in
the primary, he easily defeated the Republican nominee in the general election
and served from 1947-1952. Known for his accessibility to his constituents,
Kennedy supported most of President Truman's "Fair Deal" program, although he
occasionally attacked the President's foreign policy. Lightly creased
through bottom of "J" in Jack. File holes at upper blank margin. Overall, fine
condition.
