In full: "Thank you very much for your letter of April 9th, telling me of your interest in the application of Eastern Airlines now pending before the Civil Aeronautics Board. I am familiar with this matter, and it will be a pleasure for me to let the CAB officials know of your interest also in seeing that the application is granted. If I can be of further service in any way, do not hesitate to call on me. With very best wishes, Sincerely," Eastern Airlines had begun flying in 1927 as Pitcairn Aviation. It became Eastern Air Transport in 1930 and Eastern Airlines in 1934. WWI aviator Eddie Rickenbacker was its President (1938-1954) and Chairman of the Board (1954-1963). The airline ceased operation in 1991. Established in 1938, the CAB promotes and regulates the civil air transport industry in the U.S. and between the U.S. and foreign countries.
