LYNDON B. JOHNSON
Lyndon B. Johnson sends a typed letter of thanks for the letter.
TLS: "Lyndon B. Johnson" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 8x10½ (Washington, D.C.), 1949 July 7. To Dr. Harry G. Newton, Austin, Texas. In full: "Many thanks for your July 5th letter, telling me that you want to be considered at the same time for the position of Landscape Architect with the Housing administration. From your first letter, I believed that you wanted to wait on this latter position. However, without delay I'm getting in touch with the Housing authorities and will be as helpful as I can to you in your efforts along this line. Of course I'll let you know just as soon as I have any news. With my every good wish, Sincerely," Congressman from Texas from 1937-1949, Lyndon B. Johnson had been a U.S. Senator for just six months when he wrote this letter to a constituent. He resigned from the Senate in 1961, having been elected Kennedy's Vice President. Lightly creased. Rust stain from staple hole at upper corner.
