Color publicity photograph of Mikhail Gorbachev embracing President Ronald Reagan.
Photograph signed: "M. Gorbachev" in Russian. Color, 10x8. The last Communist leader of the U.S.S.R. is embracing President Ronald Reagan (not signing). Mikhail Gorbachev (born in 1931) was the last General Secretary of the Communist Party of the U.S.S.R. and the last Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (1985-1991). He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for his efforts to bring the Cold War to an end. His efforts were also noted by "Time" magazine, which named him its "Man of the Year" in 1987 and "Man of the Decade" (for the 1980s). The Soviet Union officially dissolved on December 26, 1991, the day after Gorbachev resigned. It did not take long for the former Soviet leader to take advantage of life in a capitalistic society. He was paid to sign a limited number of these photographs by The Score Board, Inc., of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The same company that pays baseball players to sign photographs. Certificate from The Score Board, Inc., included. Fine condition.
