RICHARD NIXON
Richard Nixon signs a black and white original caricature of himself
by Jack Rosen.
Original Caricature signed: "Richard Nixon", 6¼x9¾. Black felt
tip pen drawing with highlights in white paint by caricaturist Jack Rosen.
ROSEN, whose name is typed at lower right under the image, was head of
Security at New York City's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. He often escorted important
guests to their rooms, sketched them in the elevator, finished the drawing at
home and had it autographed. This drawing, however, was made in San Clemente,
California (ink note on verso: "IP [in person] Drawing/San
Clemente"). NIXON, who had been elected the nation's 37th President
in 1968, had retired to his San Clemente home upon resigning from the presidency
on August 9, 1974 in the wake of the Watergate scandal and threat of
impeachment. He had previously served as a U.S. Representative (1947-1950) and
U.S. Senator (1950-1953) from California and as Vice President (1953-1961) under
Dwight D. Eisenhower. Upper loop of the "R" in Richard written at dark area but
legible. Slightly creased. Fine condition..
