RICHARD NIXON, LADY BIRD JOHNSON and BARBARA JORDAN
Richard Nixon, Lady Bird Johnson, and Barbara Jordan sign a philatelic envelope honoring the 50th anniversary of the Social Security Act.
Philatelic Envelope signed: "Richard Nixon", "Lady Bird Johnson" and "Barbara Jordan", 6½x3½. First Day Cover honoring the 50th anniversary of the Social Security Act, 1935-1985, 22-cent stamp affixed, postmarked Baltimore, Maryland, August 14, 1985, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. LADY BIRD JOHNSON, wife of President Lyndon Johnson, was First Lady from 1963-1969. RICHARD NIXON succeeded her husband, serving as President from 1969-1974. The inclusion of BARBARA JORDAN on this cover is ironic; as a Democratic Congresswoman from Texas (1973-1979) and member of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan persuasively advocated the impeachment of President Nixon, who resigned August 8, 1974. Slightly creased. Pencil erasures on verso. Fine condition..
