Ronald Reagan writes a draft letter to be typed up later thanking Mrs. Hoffman for a wire.
Draft Autograph Letter Signed: "RR" as Governor of California, 1p, 4¾x8¼. [Sacramento, California], 1967 April 24. To Mrs. Hoffman. In full: "It was good of you to wire me about Maureen and I'm truly grateful I am and glad to hear such nice things about her. I still recall my visit back there with great pleasure and hope our paths will cross again in the not too distant future. Again thanks." Governor Reagan would handwrite his letters and have them typed, signed and sent. The date this was typed is written and initialed by his secretary in the upper right. "RR" indicates he wished the letter to be signed with his first and last name. Ronald Reagan had been sworn in as Governor of California three months earlier, on January 2, 1967. His daughter Maureen (1941-2001) was Reagan's eldest child. At the time of this letter, she was married to David Sills (since 1964); they divorced in 1968. Her mother was Academy Award winning actress Jane Wyman who was married to the future President from 1940-1949 (final decree of divorce). Fine condition.
