PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN - AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED 08/12/1962 - HFSID 45966
Price: $1,250.00
GENERAL ELECTRIC THEATRE HAS BEEN CANCELLED SO REAGAN IS "NOT
IN THE MARKET FOR STORIES"
RONALD REAGAN. Autograph Letter
Signed: "Ronald Reagan", 1p, 8½x11. Pacific Palisades, [California],
[1962] August 12. To Mrs. Ford. In full: "I'm regretfully returning this
charming piece because I'm in no position to make use of it. G.E. Theatre has
been cancelled as of the end of the present summer re-runs so I'm not in the
market for stories. Please accept my thanks for the opportunity of reading
it." "G.E. Theatre" has been double underlined and "Big M P name" is written
under Reagan's signature probably by the recipient. "M P" probably stands for
"Motion Picture". Ronald Reagan hosted General Electric Theatre on CBS
from 1954-1962. The show's last episode aired on September 16, 1962, so this
letter was written on August 12, 1962. In the November 23, 1958 Thanksgiving
episode of General Electric Theatre, Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy
costarred as an American Indian couple in a play with the prophetic title "A
Turkey for the President". Notes on verso in the hand of, most probably, the
recipient. Lightly creased. Pinhead sized stain to right of signature. Staple
holes in upper left. Minor nicks on right edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
