Typed Letter Signed: "Wm H Taft" as 27th U.S. President, 1p, 7x8¾. The White House, Washington, 1910 February 17. To Hon. F.A. Pezet, Peruvian Legation, Panama, Panama. In full: "I am very glad that you are satisfied with our two pictures which we sent you. You seem to be having a gay time in the Panamanian capital. I sincerely hope that you will find the new Minister whom we sent there, Mr. Hitt, and his wife, agreeable additions to your diplomatic force." This letter was written during the building of the Panama Canal. REYNOLDS HITT (1876-1938) was U.S. Minister to Panama (1909-1910) and to Guatemala (1910-1913). Lightly shaded at blank horizontal fold. Slightly creased. Overall, fine condition.
