PRESIDENT WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON - MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENT SIGNED 4/1814 - HFSID 4789

 
WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON
Signed 6 months after his victory at the Battle of the Thames, Major General Harrison signs a supply document with his full name.
Manuscript Document Signed: "Willm Henry Harrison" as Major General, U.S. Army, 1p, 7¾x6½. Cincinnati, Ohio, 1814 April. In full: "Return for Wood for Maj. Genl Harrison for the month of April 1814, at Cincinnati Ohio. No. Months 1. Cords per month 6. Total Cords Wood 6. The Ass[istan]t. D[eput]y. Q[uarter]. M[aster]. Gen[era]l will furnish Six Cords Wood agreeably to the above return. Received the above Wood." Six months earlier, Harrison had defeated the British and the Indians in the Battle of the Thames in which Chief Tecumseh was killed. Harrison resigned from the Army a month after he signed this document, on May 31, 1814, and was appointed head Commissioner to treat with the Indians. Signed with his scarce, full signature. Soiled at mid-horizontal fold touching some words. Slightly stained not at signature. 2-inch paper loss at upper right edge. Overall, fine condition.
