Bill Clinton addresses an envelope in purple ink.
Autograph Envelope unsigned, 7½x4. Addressed in his hand to "Sheri
Steward/Box 210/Jasper, Ark,/72641". Printed on verso: "Office of the
Attorney General/Little Rock." Metered postage, postmarked Little Rock,
Arkansas, August 15, 1976. Accompanied by photocopy of a handwritten
letter (1p, 8½x11) from Clinton to "Sherri" making arrangements "to set up a
talk on the children's colony thing." Clinton, a native of Hope, Arkansas,
made Little Rock his home while serving four terms as the state's Governor
(1979-1981, 1983-1993). First elected in 1978 at the age of 32, he was the
youngest Governor in the state's history. He is only the third 20th century
Democrat to be reelected President; the other two were also Governors (Wilson of
New Jersey, FDR of New York). Slightly soiled. One-inch tear on reverse flap has
been repaired underneath with transparent tape. Overall, fine
condition.
