Small black and white photograph of Bill Clinton shaking hands at a rally.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Don Whitebread,/Best wishes,/Bill Clinton/6-21-85" as Governor of Arkansas. B/w, 5x7. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso note that this photograph was taken in Mountain Home, Arkansas on May 19, 1984. He was probably stumping for re-election to his third two-year term as Governor at the time. When 32-year-old Bill Clinton was first elected Governor of Arkansas in 1978, he was the nation's youngest Governor. Clinton was defeated for reelection in 1980, but he was reelected in 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1990. Beginning in 1986, the year after this photograph was signed, Arkansas' governors were elected to four- instead of two-year terms. From 1986-1987, Governor Clinton served as Chairman of the National Governors' Association and the Education Commission of the States. He was 42nd U.S. President from 1993-2001. Minor surface creases (not evident head on), one at Clinton's hair. Minor stain at lower blank margin. Fine condition.
