BILL CLINTON He has inscribed and signed a 14x11 photo of himself shaking hands with President Kennedy in 1963. Photograph signed: "To Jonathan/Thanks/Bill Clinton". B/w, 14x11. On July 24, 1963 young William Jefferson Clinton, attending American Boys Nation in Washington, D.C., met and shook hands with President John F. Kennedy. Clinton, then 17 and already an admirer of JFK, was one of two delegates from Arkansas Boys State elected to Boys Nation. Kennedy's speech thanked Boys Nation for supporting his civil rights legislation; Clinton was one of four southern delegates who had voted for it, providing the swing votes to pass the resolution. Thirty years later Clinton, a fellow Democrat who shared many of Kennedy's strengths and weaknesses, would move into the White House as the 42nd President. The recipient of this inscription acquired it on October 24, 2010, in Blaine, Minnesota. Signature light but legible. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise fine condition.
