Fine condition. Included is a Typed Letter signed: "John L. Ferguson" as State Historian, 1p, 8½x11, Little Rock, 1996 February 20. Original envelope included. To the Gallery of History. In full: "On the Arkansas Sesquicentennial First Day Cover of January 3, 1986, the signature directly beneath that of Bill Clinton is Carolyn Staley, soloist at the First Day of Issue ceremony. Above the signature of Dale Bumpers is that of Eugene C. Hagburg, Assistant U.S. Postmaster General for Planning. Tom Dillard, President of the Arkansas Sesquicentennial Commission, signed at lower center. The remaining signature, the one at lower left, we are unable to identify." A former Governor of Arkansas, DALE BUMPERS (1925-2016) was U.S. Senator from Arkansas from 1975-1999 when he retired. He delivered an impassioned plea for acquittal to his former Senate colleagues during the impeachment hearing of President BILL CLINTON (b. 1946). Bumpers did not seek re-election in 1998.
