WOODROW WILSON
The young Bryn Mawr professor writes to Winthrop S. Scudder of Boston: "The subject of your letter is much too important to be treated 'off-hand- in a hasty note of explanation."
Rare Early Autograph Letter Signed:
"Woodrow Wilson", 3p, 5x7½, front and verso. Bryn Mawr, Pa., 1887 January 4. To Winthrop S. Scudder. In part: "The subject of your letter is much too important to be treated 'off-hand' in a hasty note of explanation; but, taking it for granted that you will still be interested in what I may have to say upon a subject which is of the greatest interest to me, I shall hope to find leisure within a week or so to reply at some length to your letter-which is so full of suggestion." At the time of this letter, 30-year-old Wilson was teaching history and political science at Bryn Mawr College, his first teaching job; he had practiced law in Atlanta from 1882-1883. Wilson left Bryn Mawr in 1888 to teach at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. Folds. Horizontal folds touch some text. Fine condition.
