Woodrow Wilson signs a class schedule for a student while a Professor
of Jurisprudence and Political Economy at Princeton.
Partly Printed Document Signed: "Woodrow Wilson" in pencil,
1p, 5½x6. [Princeton, N.J.], 1902. "Schedule for Academic Special
Students/1st Term 1902-1903" for student W.H. Abbott. The eight courses
Abbott is taking are listed at the upper right. Beneath the courses are
the signatures of his professors, including Wilson, who taught
Jurisprudence & Political Economy, and "Adv. Logic J.G. Hibben",
"Psychol-J.M. Baldwin", 19th Cent Writers "Henry van Dyke", "Physics W.F.
Magee", "Greek (Lys-Poore) E. Glassmeyer" and two others. Hibben signed in
ink, the others in pencil. WILSON became Professor of Jurisprudence and
Political Economy at Princeton in 1890. On June 9, 1902, he was unanimously
elected President of Princeton, taking office on October 25, 1902. As
evidenced by this document, Wilson continued to teach. He was nominated for
Governor of New Jersey by the Democrats on September 15, 1910, resigning from
Princeton on October 23rd. Logic Professor JOHN G. HIBBEN, who has also
signed this document, succeeded Wilson as President of Princeton
University. Lightly creased. Light folds, vertical fold between the "od" in
Woodrow. Perforated left and right edges, lightly shaded upper edge. Ink notes
(unknown hand) at left margin.
