Woodrow Wilson sends a typed letter of apology that he will not be able to attend the annual dinner of the John Hopkins Association.
Typed Letter Signed: "Woodrow Wilson" as President of Princeton University, 1p, 8x10. Princeton, N.J., 1903 February 5. To Mr. Henry Barton Jacobs, Princeton, New Jersey. In full: "I am sincerely obliged to you for your invitation to attend the annual dinner of the Johns Hopkins Association; but I am sorry to say that I have another engagement for that day, which will make it impossible for me to accept. With appreciation and regret, Very sincerely yours,". Dr. Henry Barton Jacobs (1858-1939) taught at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1896-1905. Wilson was Professor of Jurisprudence and Political Economy at Princeton from 1890 until 1902 when he became President of Princeton. He left Princeton in 1910 when he was nominated for Governor of New Jersey. 1-inch separation at blank right horizontal fold. Folds, vertical fold touches third "o" in Woodrow. "W" smudged in Wilson.
