Partly Printed Check signed: "Y. Ben-Zvi" in Hebrew, 6x2¾. Jerusalem, 1948 June 21. In Hebrew, not translated. Drawn on the account of the Vaad Leumi National Council (Ben-Zvi was its President), payable to Z. Vilner for 140 pounds. Endorsed by Vilner on verso. Signed by Israel's second President (1952-1963) less than five weeks after Israel declared their independence. At the time, Ben-Zvi, founder of the first Hebrew high school in Palestine (1909) and a founder with Ben-Gurion of the Mapai Party in 1929, was President of the Vaad Leumi national council. He was also a Signer of the Israeli Proclamation of Independence. Bank stamp just touches 1 letter in signature. Pinhead-size stain touches paraph. Staple holes and pinhead-size stain do not touch writing. Overall, fine condition.
