First Day Cover signed: "Home", 6½x4¼, affixed to 14½x4¾ sheet. Scottish FDC honoring the "Save a Place for Birds Appeal", 9-pence British stamp affixed, postmarked Inverness, October 5, 1977, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Cachet pictures a painting of an osprey. A biography of Home and an article (and photograph) about the osprey affixed to mounting sheet. Sir Alexander Douglas-Home (1903-1995) entered the British Parliament as a Conservative in 1931. A member of several Cabinets, he served as Prime Minister from 1963-1964. Rectangular stain from removal of address label at lower right blank margin of envelope, which has light transference of ink from mounting sheet at blank areas. Mounting sheet is lightly rippled. Light ink transference at blank areas, file hole at lower right corner. Fine condition.
