Typed Letter Signed: "Balfour", 1p, 6½x8½. Pall Mall (London), 1926 June 18. To Major Wrench. In full: "I was most grieved to hear yesterday from Mr. Rice of your father's death. I had the highest possible regard for him; and he did most valuable work under very difficult conditions. He deserved and he obtained the affectionate respect of all who knew him." Two words (bolded) in his hand. Arthur J. Balfour was British Prime Minister from 1902-1905. While serving as Foreign Secretary (1916-1919), he made the Balfour Declaration (1917). Creased. Folds, vertical fold touches the lower loop of the "B". Pinhead-size stain at lower blank margin. Fine condition.
