Boker, 1971 June 21. To Meir Ronen, Jerusalem. In full: "Peace and
blessings. I know that the Talmud says that each woman gave birth to 6
babies, but they did not stay in Egypt and they did not examine each woman.
About 'eye for an eye', you assume that Moses did not know Hebrew and
instead of saying 'he will pay for it', he said an eye for an eye. But I don't
need to prove to you that you are wrong." David Ben-Gurion, who proclaimed
Israel's independence on May 14, 1948, was its first leader as Chairman of
the Provisional State Council from May 14th to May 17, 1948, when he became
Prime Minister and Chaim Weizmann became President. Ben-Gurion served
from 1948-1953 and 1955-1963. Lightly creased with folds, light horizontal fold
at first letter of signature. Minor paper loss at upper left edge, which has 1½-
and ¾-inch tears at blank portion. "No. 9" stamped at upper blank margin.
Overall, fine condition.
