FÉLIX GAILLARD. Signature: "Félix Gaillard" as President
of the Council, 5x3¾ printed card. Gaillard (1919-1970) was the next to
last Prime Minister of France under the Constitution of the Fourth Republic
(1946), which vested most power in the legislature. Gaillard held office for
only six months (November 6, 1957-May 13, 1958), typical of the France in the
years before Charles DeGaulle returned to power (1958) and secured a new
constitution with a stronger chief executive. Faint erasures at blank lower
margin. Mounting tape remnants on verso show through lightly, one touching "lix"
of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
