Commemorative Envelope Signed: "Home", "Wilson of Rievaulx", "Edward Heath" and "James Callaghan" in blue and black ink. 7½x4. Australian Commemorative Envelope commemorating the presentation of “The Standard” .Pictorially postmarked with a portrait of Prince Charles in, 22- cent Australian stamp depicting "The Personal Flag for Australia of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, pictorially postmarked "Presentation of Standard by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales to First Armoured Regiment, Milpo Puckapunpal 3663, 21 April 1981".Boldly signed by four men who served as British Prime Ministers. HAROLD WILSON (1916-1995) was British Prime Minister from 1964-1970 and 1974-1976. Wilson, who entered Parliament in 1945, became a member of the Cabinet as President of the Board of Trade (1947-1951). During the 1950s, he was the Labour Party's spokesman for foreign affairs and finance, although his terms as Prime Minister were hampered by financial woes. In 1983, Wilson was made a life peer by Queen Elizabeth II and entered the House of Lords. EDWARD HEATH (1916-2005) was a Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1970 to 1974 and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1965 to 1975. In 1971 he signed the treaty bringing Britain into the European Community and resigned as Prime Minister after trying in vain to form a coalition with the Liberal Party; regardless losing a second general election in October that year, Heath vowed to continue as leader of his party. In February 1975, however, his former Education Secretary Margaret Thatcher challenged and defeated Heath to win the leadership. After his return to the backbenches, he became an active critic of Thatcher's policies as leader and, from 1979, as Prime Minister. Heath remained a backbench MP until retiring in 2001, serving as the Father of the House for his last nine years in Parliament. In August 2015 police started investigating multiple claims of historic child sexual abuse by Heath.JAMES CALLAGHAN (1912-2005) was Foreign Secretary in the Labor Government of Harold Wilson, renegotiating the terms of Britain's EC membership. He served as Prime Minister 1976-1979. Callaghan's loss to Margaret Thatcher in the 1979 general election was part of the conservative wave which crested when Ronald Reagan replaced Jimmy Carter in the US Presidency the following year. Callaghan is the only person to have served in all four of Britain's Great Offices of State: Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer (1964-1967), Home Secretary (1967-1970) and Foreign Secretary (1974-1976).Fine condition.
